Expert Overview Bitten by military bug at age 6, but too cowardly to go for Army career (tho' reached dizzy heights of sergeant in CCF). Usual path to PhD; then sold duvets in Reading before Balkans fell apart, presenting unanticipated job opportunity to otherwise-unemployable (?) Yugoslavia expert. Since then, 15 years in Sandhurst War Studies dept, teaching cadets and officers and shuffling mountains of paper as Deputy Head. TV since mid-90s - 20+ progs so far, all rewarding!
